Vocal Notes does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All audio recording and transcription happens entirely on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Your recordings never leave your phone.
Data Collection
Vocal Notes does not collect any data from its users. We do not use analytics frameworks, crash reporters, or any third-party SDKs that gather information. The app does not require an account, email address, or any personal information to function.
On-Device Processing
All audio transcription is performed locally on your device using the Whisper Large v3 Turbo model. The AI model is downloaded once during initial setup and runs entirely offline after that. No audio, text, or metadata is ever sent to external servers.
Audio & Transcription Storage
Your recordings and transcriptions are stored in your device's local storage. They are not backed up to any cloud service operated by us. If you use iCloud device backups, your data may be included per your own iCloud settings — this is controlled entirely by you and Apple.
Microphone Access
Vocal Notes requests microphone permission solely to record audio for transcription. Microphone access is only active while you are actively recording. The app does not access the microphone in the background.
Third-Party Services
Vocal Notes does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, or analytics platforms. The only network request the app makes is to download the transcription model during initial setup, from Hugging Face's model repository.
Children's Privacy
Since we do not collect any data, we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Since Vocal Notes does not collect user data, we have no way to notify you directly — we encourage you to review this page periodically.
